The School of Public Service and Global Affairs (PSGA) prepares and educates future leaders with effective communication skills, interdisciplinary focus, professional experience, and global perspectives.  Our diverse programs prepare our graduates for impactful careers in fields related to public service, pre-law, legal studies, global affairs, history, political science, global languages and cultures and public administration. The school offers a unique and stellar educational experience for its students, providing them with a strong curriculum that advocates critical thinking, experiential learning and community engagement that makes their time at ³ÉÈ˶¶ÒôÆƽâ°æ truly transformational.

Interdisciplinary Approach

We believe in the power of interdisciplinary education. Our programs often intersect, allowing students to gain a broader perspective on public service and global affairs. We offer eight undergraduate majors, several minors, and one graduate program.

Experiential Education

Exceptional practical experiences are integral to our curriculum. Students have opportunities for internships, research trips, and fieldwork at both local and national levels to apply their knowledge in real-world settings.

Our faculty members are experts in their respective fields, committed to providing quality education, mentoring, and conducting impactful research. With the support of faculty advisors, undergraduate students are strongly encouraged to double major, add a minor, or explore accelerated 4 + 1 programs (bachelors and masters) based on career goals.

The school hosts a variety of clubs and programs for student engagement such as CIVIC, Global Language, Legal Studies, Mock Trial, and Model United Nations.

Located in the A.J. Palumbo Academic Center in the center of downtown Erie, an array of local internship opportunities are just blocks from campus including City Government, Museums, Political Campaigns, Arts & Culture Organizations, Local Newspapers, Non-Profits, and Major Corporate Headquarters.

Community Justice Fellowship (Pardon Project); Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) in French; and Model United Nations Program (one of the oldest in the country).

Politics and Pints

On the third Thursday of every month PSGA hosts "Politics and Pints." Featuring a trivia game, kitschy prizes, and guest speakers, this is your safe and civil space to learn about and discuss current events and politics. In the past, "Politics & Pints" have hosted among others including Los Angeles-Based Political Consultant, Suzie Abdou, Elections Security Expert, Jonathan Monken, Erie Mayor, Joe Schember, County Councilman, Andre Horton, and Erie County Executive: Kathy Dahlkemper. Join us for free food, trivia, prizes, friendship, & fun!

Are you an idealist who wants to change the world? The School of Public Service & Global Affairs (PSGA) prepares graduates for impactful careers.

Within the School of Public Service & Global Affairs are seven undergraduate majors & minors and one graduate program. You can pick & choose and pair these majors and minors that suit your academic interests and career goals. history, pre-law, global languages, & political science majors share classes and a common, high-impact PSGA experience that makes your time at ³ÉÈ˶¶ÒôÆƽâ°æ unique.

You are unique. Your interests in politics, leadership, law, history, current events, and global languages & cultures reveal that. Your friends and classmates who study medicine or engineering have logical career paths. But your interests make your career path unique & different. Like you, PSGA is also different. PSGA is "hands-on" humanities. We embed experiential learning and career preparation in your coursework. We place you in meaningful, high-impact internships. We send you abroad to develop your language, cultural, & life skills. PSGA prepares the idealist to change the world.
