Doctor of Physical Therapy, Ruskin

Meghan Finton graduated from Ruskin’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2020, in the thick of COVID-19. Finton was a member of the first graduating class from the DPT program at Ruskin. Since her time in school, she has earned her Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS) and Vestibular and Concussion Specialist certifications. Finton obtained these certifications while working at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sarasota and Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Tampa, where she provides inpatient rehabilitative care, primarily for patients who have suffered strokes, traumatic brain injuries, or spinal cord injuries.

Finton explained, “I was part of the first DPT cohort in Ruskin, so I knew there was risk attending an unaccredited program, but I was confident in the program and its professors. The sunny Florida weather also helped a bit!” When sharing more of her experiences, Finton found one thing that prepared her well for her professional career: “I believe the clinical rotations prepared me the most for my career as a physical therapist.” She continued, “Each setting was different and allowed us hands-on experience out in the field. The professors and engaging labs also played a big role in my development.”

Today, Finton works in North Tampa and serves as the Student Coordinator for Clinical Education (SCCE). In this role, she accepts and places all therapy students for clinical rotations. Finton shared her advice for incoming and future 成人抖音破解版 Knights: “Stay the course! All of your hard work and efforts will pay off!”
